Senza dubbio la blockchain e tutto ci\u00f2 che le ruota intorno sono interessanti dal punto di vista economico e di investimento, ma non possiamo limitarci a questo: l\u2019evoluzione tecnologica porta sempre con s\u00e9 cambiamenti che non si riflettono solamente sulla struttura del mercato ma anche sulle sovrastrutture della societ\u00e0 e sulle nostre convenzioni. Questo \u00e8 ci\u00f2 su cui si interroga&nbsp;<strong>CryptoZR (Liu Jiaying)<\/strong>, artista cinese impegnata nel fulmineo sviluppo di queste tecnologie. Le sue opere sono esposte alla&nbsp;<strong>59<\/strong><sup><strong>a<\/strong><\/sup><strong>&nbsp;Biennale di Venezia<\/strong>&nbsp;all\u2019interno della mostra&nbsp;<em><strong>CryptoZR: Cookie Cookie 2.0<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp;L\u2019esposizione,&nbsp;<strong>visitabile fino al 23 novembre<\/strong>&nbsp;e ospitata negli spazi dell\u2019Arsenale Nord, \u00e8 curata da<strong>&nbsp;Li Zhenhua<\/strong>&nbsp;(Pechino, 1975), dal 2014 curatore dell\u2019area video ad Art Basel Hong Kong.<br>Ho avuto il piacere di incontrarlo a Venezia e di intervistarlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La mostra&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>CryptoZR: Cookie Cookie 2.0<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;tratta del metaverso e dei nuovi orizzonti che questa tecnologia sta aprendo. Secondo te, in che modo la Cina sta esplorando la ricchezza del metaverso e come l\u2019arte cinese sta reagendo a questo tipo di rivoluzione?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La tecnologia non \u00e8 tua amica. Questo \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che riguarda questa mostra, un pensiero critico dell\u2019artista CryptoZR (Liu Jiaying). Attraverso il suo lavoro, ha sfidato ci\u00f2 che le nuove tecnologie possono fare, e ci\u00f2 che potrebbe essere perso durante il processo, come nel caso del&nbsp;<em>Not Found Token&nbsp;<\/em>(nozione che ironizza sul concetto stesso di NFT,&nbsp;<em>ndr<\/em>). La tecnologia si svilupper\u00e0 con noi nel nostro tempo: non \u00e8 perfetta, ma lasciatevi coinvolgere, continuate a pensare a cosa pu\u00f2 fare, cosa pu\u00f2 migliorare, per un essere umano e per l\u2019umanit\u00e0.<br>Nessun commento sulla Cina o sull\u2019arte cinese, perch\u00e9 l\u2019approccio artistico di CryptoZR va oltre. Come visione di business per il futuro, quella del metaverso e della tecnologia blockchain \u00e8 una direzione continua partecipativa. Essa richiede per\u00f2 di essere compresa meglio: per esempio, la tecnologia ci conduce alla democrazia? Questo \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che si proponeva di fare Internet fin dall\u2019inizio, ma cosa sta succedendo oggi? Penso che tu abbia una risposta migliore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perch\u00e9 pensi che la Biennale di Venezia avesse bisogno di una mostra che trattasse di metaverso e Crypto Art, come fa&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>CryptoZR: Cookie Cookie 2.0&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><strong>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In tutta la Biennale manca la cultura giovanile e la visione del futuro. Mostrare il lavoro di CryptoZR \u00e8 un processo di compensazione rispetto al mondo dell\u2019arte di quest\u2019anno; \u00e8 anche un bisogno delle giovani generazioni, quale sarebbe l\u2019arte del loro tempo?<br>L\u2019assenza di confini della Crypto Art, cos\u00ec come della situazione economica, permette a CryptoZR di comunicare meglio con le persone, senza differenze culturali. Il metaverso sta rispondendo alla prima istanza di Internet: tutte le persone possono partecipare, per un futuro migliore. CryptoZR ci sta provando, e dobbiamo provarci insieme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cosa puoi dirci di CryptoZR? Da ci\u00f2 che ho letto, \u00e8 un\u2019artista estremamente complessa, la cui pratica indaga la nostra contemporaneit\u00e0 in modo altamente innovativo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CryptoZR si occupa di investimenti in tech-business ed \u00e8 un\u2019artista. Il suo lavoro mi ha portato a riflettere sulle convenzioni che si celano dietro il nostro mondo visibile. Attraverso lo sviluppo della sua creazione artistica, si pu\u00f2 comprendere meglio il recente sviluppo della tecnologia blockchain, airdrop, smart contract, NFT, community-driven online bidding, etc.<br>Inoltre, CryptoZR realizza diversi progetti interattivi, immersivi e architettonici basati su Cryptovoxels (un mondo virtuale e metaverso alimentato dalla blockchain Ethereum,&nbsp;<em>ndr<\/em>). L\u2019artista intende trasformare l\u2019impossibile in possibile, restituendo allo stesso tempo anche un pensiero critico. La complessit\u00e0 \u00e8 dovuta al fatto che il lavoro di CryptoZR pu\u00f2 essere inteso come un processo educativo, come una nuova forma d\u2019arte e come uno spazio di dibattito per noi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La mostra affronta diversi argomenti importanti. Uno di questi \u00e8 la politica internazionale, che CryptoZR esplora attraverso l\u2019opera&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Red and Blue<\/strong><\/em><strong>. Qual \u00e8 la&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>ratio<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;dietro questa particolare opera d\u2019arte?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019arte contemporanea deve sfidare il proprio tempo. CryptoZR ha dato vita a progetti che vanno di pari passo con le vicende di oggi.&nbsp;<em>Red &amp; Blue<\/em>&nbsp;ha necessitato di un anno per essere sviluppata, elaborata, terminata. Il concetto ha inizio con la \u201cguerra economica\u201d di Cina e America, ma l\u2019input di CryptoZR \u00e8 quello di offuscare i confini, anche ideologici, tra il rosso (che rappresenta la Cina) e il blu (gli Stati Uniti).<br>Il lavoro di CryptoZR estende la realt\u00e0: mette in discussione il significato della disputa a livello nazionale conferendole un\u2019astrazione e un\u2019interazione online sul sistema blockchain, tramite il processo di offerta al pubblico. L\u2019artista ha documentato e spiegato questo processo in un video, a mio avviso anch\u2019esso un\u2019opera d\u2019arte, come hanno fatto molti artisti performativi: il lavoro di CryptoZR sta rendendo possibile il gesto performativo online. In questo caso la questione politica finalmente ritorna ad una scala umana; il lavoro di CryptoZR inizia con un\u2019idea, e termina nel tempo e nella comunit\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La criptovaluta non \u00e8 solo un modo alternativo di condurre transazioni: implica un approccio diverso all\u2019economia e alla nostra visione del denaro. Come affronta CryptoZR \u2013 che (a proposito) ha coniato una criptovaluta personale \u2013 il passato, il presente e il futuro delle nostre economie?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coniare, \u201cdroppare\u201d le cryptovalute, comprende anche un suo dilemma, dato che i token sono stati inventati prima della moneta fiat. La valuta di CryptoZR ha a che fare con i diritti personali e i sistemi di valori. Il suo lavoro permetter\u00e0 alle persone di essere consapevoli del possibile e di ci\u00f2 che le abituali convenzioni hanno applicato nelle nostre vite: l\u2019economia \u00e8 legata al consenso; il lavoro di CryptoZR interroga la base del concetto economico, il livello di convenzione dei tab\u00f9 di oggi. Dove inizier\u00e0 la rivoluzione, l\u2019invenzione di nuove comunit\u00e0, della propria vita, la condivisione con gli altri: non sono clich\u00e9, si tratta di come la partecipazione cambier\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Un\u2019ultima domanda: come curatore, quali differenze noti tra una mostra sul metaverso e una tradizionale?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non ho in mente nessuna tradizione.\u00a0<em>All in the Present Must Be Transformed: Matthew Barney e Joseph Beuys<\/em>\u00a0(il titolo di una mostra del Guggenheim di Berlino e di Venezia del 2007,\u00a0<em>ndr<\/em>). Da quando ho iniziato a fare il curatore, il mio lavoro riguarda l\u2019inventare, l\u2019esplorare, l\u2019immaginare, il potenziare il presente e il futuro. Interview with the curator Li Zhenhua<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metaverse, cryptocurrency, NFT: during the past year we have been learning to understand and use all of these words. There is no doubt that the blockchain, and everything that revolves around it, is interesting from an economic and investment point of view, but we cannot limit ourselves to this: technological evolution always brings with it changes that are reflected not only in the structure of the market, but also in the superstructures of society and in our conventions. This is what CryptoZR (Liu Jiaying), a Chinese artist deeply involved in the fast development of these technologies, is questioning. Her works are on display at the 59<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Venice Biennale in the exhibition&nbsp;<em>CryptoZR: Cookie Cookie 2.0<\/em>. The show, which can be visited until 23<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;November and takes place in the North Armory district, is curated by Li Zhenhua (Beijing, 1975), Film curator at Art Basel Hong Kong since 2014. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Venice and interviewing him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>CryptoZR: Cookie Cookie 2.0&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><strong>deals with the metaverse and the new horizons that this technology is opening up. In your opinion, in which ways China is going to explore the richness of the metaverse and how Chinese art is reacting to this kind of revolution?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technology is not your friend. This is what this show is about, a critical thinking behind the artist CryptoZR (Liu Jiaying). Through her work, she has challenged what the new technology can do, and what might be lost during the process, for example, the&nbsp;<em>Not Found Token<\/em>&nbsp;(a notion that ironically rethinks the actual concept of NFT,&nbsp;<em>ed.<\/em>). Technology shall develop with us in our time: it\u2019s not perfect, but get involved, keep thinking about what it can do, what it can do better, for a human being, for humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No comments on China or Chinese art, because CryptoZR\u2019s artistic approach is beyond. As a business vision for the future, metaverse and blockchain technology is an ongoing community-driven direction. It\u2019s requiring a better understanding of it, for example, does technology lead us to democracy? This is what the Internet was from the beginning\u2026but what is happening nowadays? I think you have a better answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why do you think that the event of Venice Biennale also needed a show that dealt with the metaverse and the Crypto Art, like&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>CryptoZR:<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>Cookie Cookie 2.0&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><strong>does?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole Biennale is lacking the youth culture and vision of the future. To show CryptoZR\u2019s work is a compensation process for this year\u2019s art world; it\u2019s also a need from the younger generation, what would be the art of their time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As crypto art and the economic situation are borderless, CryptoZR communicates better to people. Without cultural differences. The metaverse is reacting to the early Internet concept: people can all participate in it, for a better future, CryptoZR is trying, and let\u2019s try together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What can you tell us about CryptoZR? From my readings, she is an extremely complex artist, whose practice investigates our contemporaneity in a highly innovative way.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CryptoZR is a tech-business investor, and an artist. CryptoZR led me to the issue of protocols behind our visible world. Through her development of artistic creation, you can understand better the development of blockchain tech in the last few years, airdrop, smart contract, NFT, community-driven online bidding, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, CryptoZR creates several Cryptovoxels-based interactive, immersive, and architectural projects. CryptoZR intends to turn the impossible possible, at the same time giving critical thinking as well. The complexity is due to the fact that CryptoZR\u2019s work can be understood as an educational process, as a new form of art, and as a debate space for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The exhibition discusses different important topics. One of these is international politics, which CryptoZR explores through the work&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Red and Blue<\/strong><\/em><strong>. What is the&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>ratio<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;behind this particular artwork?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contemporary art needs to challenge its time. CryptoZR has invented projects that go with the time of its own. Red &amp; Blue needed one year to develop, process, to finalize. The concept begins with China and America\u2019s \u201ceconomic war\u201d, but CryptoZR\u2019s input is to blur the reason why red represents China, blue represents the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CryptoZR\u2019s work stretches the reality, questioning the meaning of the national level of the dispute by giving an abstraction and interaction online on the blockchain system, with the bidding process\u2026CryptoZR has documented and explained the work in a video, for me it\u2019s an artwork as well, as much early performance artist did, CryptoZR\u2019s development is making the online performative gesture possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There the political issue finally returns to a human scale, CryptoZR\u2019s work starts with an idea, and ends in time and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cryptocurrency isn\u2019t just another way of conducting transactions: it implies a different approach to the economy and to our view of money. How does CryptoZR \u2013 who (by the way) coined her personal cryptocurrency \u2013 deal with our economies\u2019 past, present and future?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To minting, to drop COINS, also has its own dilemma\u2026since tokens were invented before the fiat currency. CryptoZR\u2019s coin is dealing with personal rights and value systems. CryptoZR\u2019s work shall let people be aware of what is possible and what customary conventions have applied in our lives\u2026economy is related to consensus, CryptoZR\u2019s work touches on the basis of the economic concept, the protocol level of today\u2019s taboo. Where the revolution shall begin, invent new communities, invent your life, share with the others\u2026it\u2019s not a clich\u00e9, it\u2019s about how participation shall change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One final question for you: as a curator, which differences do you notice between a metaverse exhibition and a traditional one?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have no tradition in mind. \u201cAll in the Present Must Be Transformed: Matthew Barney and Joseph Beuys\u201d (the title of an exhibition realized by Berlin and Venice Guggenheim in 2007,&nbsp;<em>ed.<\/em>). Since I started as a curator, my work is about inventing, exploring, envisioning, empowering now and in the future.
